String Quartet Op 76 #2, Minuet and Vivace...
by FJ Haydn (1732-1809)
Franz Joseph Haydn was a pillar of Classical era composers and was later nicknamed “Papa” partly for being considered the father of the String Quartet form. The Minuet and Vivace movements here are from a quartet nicknamed “The Quinten”, or “The Fifths”, and are full of his signature compositional wit and innovation.
