Who we are &
what we do
Loon Lake Live believes in building community through shared experiences.
Programs have been free of charge with suggested “free will offering” levels, and open to all ages since our inception 28 years ago.

Our professional musicians are associated with orchestras, universities, and fine arts institutions from Europe and the Americas.
Loon Lake Live has become an enduring series that has performed over 300 concerts and educational programs throughout the Northern Adirondack area, featuring compositions ranging from hundreds of years old to world premiere commissions for small ensemble, all performed in intimate spaces.
STEWARDSHIP
In addition to performing established chamber music repertoire from as far back as the Renaissance era, Loon Lake Live leads by featuring living and lesser known composers. We are especially proud to have commissioned and/or premiered new works by American composers John Winn, Benjamin Tomkins, Jessica Mays, Zae Munn, and Elizabeth Brown.
This summer we will be making the world premiere of a new trio for flute, harp, and viola by Frances White, and will be featuring works by “new to Loon Lake Live” composers Natalie Hunt, Benjamin Godard, Ethel Smyth, Anna Clyne, Hans Krasa and André Previn.
EDUCATION
We work to nurture the next generation and present a specially designed series focused on sharing classical music in a stimulating environment with North Country youth and their care givers. We have also mentored and featured younger developing musicians, and during the 2020 pandemic pause we built an online Play-Along series for developing and amateur musicians of every age.
COMMUNITY
Having long lasting community connections is vital to us; we have donated and partnered with local organizations in creating free concerts to help the arts thrive, including producing an educational concert video to support Historic Saranac Lake’s undaunted and extraordinary efforts to preserve the history of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s connection to Saranac Lake.
